FAQ

  • Nope! While I received specific training in working with these communities, I welcome anyone who wants to learn more about themselves and bring more intentionality to how they relate—to partners, friends, themselves, their greater community, etc.

  • Not currently. I would love to be able to offer that, however, I don’t feel like I’ve had sufficient training to effectively support more than one person at a time. I will update my services if/when that changes.

  • Absolutely. This is a low-stakes, reflective space where you can explore who you are without the pressure to pick a specific label.

  • There’s a bit of overlap so it’s difficult to draw a hard line between the two. However, the biggest differences come down to training and scope.

Therapy: Therapists are trained and licensed to work with folks experiencing significant emotional distress or mental health conditions. They can go deep into your history to help you uncover, examine, and understand how your past shapes who you are today. They can also provide a diagnosis, and are often covered by health insurance.

Coaching: With coaching, you might still have insights about how your past is showing up—there’s no way for us to talk about your present moment without touching your history. We can use those insights in our work together, but that is not the focus of our time.

Instead, we’ll be more oriented to what’s happening right now, using these insights to disrupt current patterns, build skills, inform your choices and boundaries, and make lasting shifts going forward.

Note: Coaching does not involve diagnosing, and my services are not covered by health insurance.

  • No. I’m not a certified trauma professional, so I don't help you process or heal the source(s) of your trauma. I highly recommend having a therapist or other trained professional for that deep dive.

We can, however, work with the impact it has on you in you day to day. We focus on building the habits and boundaries that help you stay connected to yourself, even when things get hard.

  • Definitely! Some of my clients do both and find it incredibly beneficial to have coaching as a dedicated space to process the day-to-day challenges that are unique to non-traditional, non-normative ways of being. They like not having to explain or justify themselves (especially if their therapist isn’t as matched in those identities). The also just like being able to compartmentalize their processing.

It’s possible that we’ll uncover things you might want to explore more deeply in therapy. Or, we can use our time together to turn your therapeutic insights into actionable steps. The extra support, accountability, and reflections from another external source (me!) can be super useful for building and maintaining momentum toward your mental-emotional health and wellness goals.

  • It’s like a vibe check. I’ll call you, and you’ll tell me more about your current situation and what you want to change.

I’ll also answer your questions and explain how my coaching process specifically supports your goals.

By the end, we’ll talk more about the financial investment and possible timeline. If things feels like a good match, we’ll process payment and make it official. You’ll leave the call with a new coach and your first session on your calendar.

  • It really depends. A good entry point is 12 weekly sessions (roughly 3 months). I recommend aiming for 24 weekly sessions (roughly 6 months) because, frankly, change takes time.

    To be transparent:

    • Month 1 and 2 are usually devoted to our working relationship—figuring out our communication, understanding what you’re working through. We’re building rapport and establishing trust.

    • Month 3 is when progress really starts. Folks will generally sign on for more sessions because they want to maintain the momentum they’re starting to see.

    • Months 4 and 5 are when you start to really see a noticeable impact on your day to day.

    • By month 6, you’ve experienced a big shift, and you’re starting to look at what’s next. Folks find it helpful to use our time together to sort out what those next steps might look like.

Let’s chat about what works best for your particular situation!

  • We meet virtually, via Zoom or Meet.

If you’d prefer to have good ol’ fashioned phone calls, let’s talk a bit more about that. Phone calls potentially allow for walking sessions, which I love—walking is quite nice for processing. However, not being able to see you makes it a bit trickier for attuning to you in the moment (because I lose visual cues).

  • That info lives here. If you have questions or concerns, please use the Contact form below to let me know. Or, let’s talk about it on a Connection Call.

  • Yes, I use a managed sliding scale (based on the Green Bottle Method. I break it down here.
